Businesses have to be keen on this new development in the financial stratosphere when you’re thinking about it, for plenty of reasons. What the computer chip-enabled card does, however, is allow the user to swipe it, have the machine read it; and the chip itself develops a unique ‘transaction code’ that can never be used again. It, therefore, means, you can buy 15 separate candy bars, the card will read it 15 separate times, and each time will be virtually unique from every other time.

Not one thief would be able to steal your information. Each transaction is encoded through the chip and never gets stored anywhere. It’s processed and then dies a lovely death in cyberspace, basically. Therefore, your information can’t ever be pulled from the card.

The hope is the new credit card chip technology will change the way credit card fraud happens. As in never. But the problem with ID theft is there’s always a way. The king of social media reins supreme in terms of positivism, because it’s all about networking and a family orientation. Oh, look, your mom’s on. Send a message! What, you have a friend over in China? She’s on right now. Poke her.

Facebook makes it a button push to connect with another human being without even stepping outside of your house, catching a ride on a plane, or even sending a snail mail letter. It’s like a super power now, one the Avengers themselves would be jealous of (although I’m pretty sure Tony Stark uses social media religiously).

But can it really make it that much easier for you to sell your home? Really? Can selling my home be a snap just with a few posts on Facebook to friends and family?

The Short Answer Is This: YES

Outreach is the key when it comes to selling my home, right? In a way, you wouldn’t even need an agent if you really know how to utilize your own Facebook profile to get your FSBO off the ground. Come to think of it…. agents could use their Facebooks as well and make a killing selling their properties via social media without even breaking a sweat. The reason why is the simple outreach. Those friends add up. Your entire friend list — as well as those following you on your profile — end up seeing your updates immediately. Talk about word-of-mouth advertising making a killing. You have to know how to use your Facebook profile, or page (or both) correctly, though.

It’s almost ridiculous to think that your own Facebook profile can act as a veritable homepage — but it can. If you use it correctly. Looking at that series all by itself, you’d think that saying “selling my home will be easy” would be easy; it is easy. When organizing your album, be sure to set it up as “public,” too, or else nobody but those on your friends list will see it. Bear in mind, too, that you don’t have to necessarily set up your entire profile to be public, though.

Additionally, utilizing Facebook for what it is brings a unique advantage. Selling my home via Facebook is all about finesse. If you’re only using your profile as a marketing tool, you just might miss the mark. People read your feeds for something interesting; therefore, always post something cool. Tough call, especially since we’re only beginning to grasp the technology. The point of Periscope and Meerkat is the fact that social media selling homes turns more instant than it already is, as sweet as it is for the home selling industry, synchronized with cyberspace and linking with those prospects immediately.

Don’t get us wrong, though: YouTube’s still a major game player in the biz, and Facebook rules the lead generation airwaves without a problem. But when you’ve got the likes of Twitter spreading the visibility and word of open houses, showings, and all of that for the real estate market as well as Pinterest and even Instagram, let’s just make this one thing clear — it dovetails quite nicely with live video feed services like Periscope and Meerkat. A nice complement. An enhancement, if you will. Which one, however, is the better investment?

People everywhere are talking about Periscope for the real estate market in droves.

This is largely due to the seamless integration with Twitter — and already beefed up advantage in the real estate market all by itself — with a superior default feed viewer and rebroadcast ability. The flexibility. the ease of use. You can’t beat Periscope in that manner.

As far as we can tell, Meerkat offers one feature that Periscope currently doesn’t possess: scheduling. This allows for planning and implementation through social media in a big way; additionally, prospective viewers will get those notifications that a live stream will occur at a [insert time/date], maximizing chances of the stream making a bit hit in the real estate market. Still, Meerkat isn’t as seamless and intuitive as Periscope, but it does the job well regardless; so it then begs the question:

What’s the Verdict? Which One Should WE Use?

Again, tough call, but we’ve got it right here — both. Test them. Experiment with them. As with anything social media — whether it’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, WordPress and Blogger, or anything else: immerse yourself in as many social media platforms as possible, because you’ll have Meerkat users out there, and you’ll have Periscope users as well. Why not take advantage of both platforms?

This is largely due to the fact that there currently isn’t really any market leader at this point. We can venture to say that Periscope just might have the lead, but the fact is this — there’s enough share space here for both to really play a role in this real estate market. Perhaps if Periscope updates and configures its broadcast options and continues to grow, it just might overwhelm Meerkat and leave the older application behind in the dust, but only time will tell.
