8 Real Questions to Ask Your Prospective Credit Counselor

Truthfully, we hate labels. And titles. And name placements. Political correctness: it’s a fickle beast, especially when talking about something as touchy as credit repair. But no worries — we’re not going to sugar-coat or bounce around the topic like some organizations or professionals out there, and we’ll tell it like it is. It’s very simple: when talking to a credit counselor, you have to ask specific questions just to be sure you’re talking to a real credit counselor for the right reasons. Why? Just remember this important fact: credit repair walks a fine legal line. You want to make sure you stay within it.

Here Are Eight Real Questions You Absolutely Must Ask a Credit Counselor — Just to Be Sure You’re Dealing With the Real McCoy

There are a lot of credit repair scammers out there, in other words. Many will label themselves as credit counselor-1credit counselor, but that’s not what they do. As a consumer, you have a right to know what you’re dealing with before potentially getting yourself in hot water, so ask the potential credit counselor you’re consulting with, and interviewing, these specific questions:

  • Can You Approve My Bankruptcy Filing? — What we mean by that are the legal requirements to filing for bankruptcy. The credit counselor you’re talking to has to have the certified approval to sign off on the legally mandated requirement to seek credit counseling before filing for bankruptcy. So make it a point to ask this question immediately.
  • Are You a “Debt Counselor” or a “Credit Counselor”? — Like we said, we hate the labels. They may sound so similar; but in truth, they’re very different. You ask this question just to be sure you are dealing with a real-life credit counselor. What are the differences? Find out right here.
  • Are You a 501(c)(3) Organization and Can You Prove It? — Now you’re getting tough with the prospective credit counselor, and you should. Grill that credit counselor to the bone with this one. Why? Why does it matter that the credit counselor’s a 501(c)(3)? Here’s why.
  • Are You Accredited? — Almost seems like a no-brainer of a question, but would you like to know exactly what kind of accreditation you should be hearing from a credit counselor? Read about it right here.
  • Are You Professionally Trained? — Remember this important fact: you are interviewing the credit counselor. So you’ll make that professional sweat. Ask them the tough questions. Knowing the ins and outs of credit repair and restoration is one thing — being completely certified is a whole ‘nother ballgame entirely.
  • Do You Have Any References? — Honestly, a true credit counselor would, and should, lick his or her own lips at this question, frothing at the mouth at the opportunity to show off the praise and positive reviews from prior clients. So go ahead and ask. Specifically, there’s one other big reason why a credit counselor would love to offer up references….
  • Can You Guarantee Success? — AHA! Another ‘trick’ question here. The fact is no credit counselor in the galaxy — nay, the universe — can guarantee anything. Here’s why.
  • And, of Course, How Much Do You COST? — Shop around and you’ll find the fees jumping left and right. Obviously, go with the most beneficial solution for the consumer to a certain extent, and you’ll learn why right here.

Just Remember, Though: They’re Not Doing the Credit Repair Work For You….

Rather, they’re pointing you in the direction of what you need to do and maybe even assisting in the legal process. There’s value in that, something not only we at ICS do, but other reputable agencies and organizations like ITPN would do on a regular basis, so it does exist.

You just need to make sure you’re actually talking to a real deal, and not a real poser in the business. You accomplish that, of course, by asking these questions. Because, after all, this is your credit report we’re talking about! And your credit score is the difference between getting that job, or landing the home mortgage, or securing an auto loan.

Make sure you’re talking with a real professional.

Something We Don’t Discuss Often: Credit Repair

We definitely should, though. No doubt. Because when it comes to rent-to-own, credit repair’s essential, and it turns out that the BBB A-rated HOPE Program sees the writing on the wall — despite already doing well for customers in credit repair thanks to Lexington Law — and recently reported of their own review of yet another credit repair service out there recently launched.

The Name of the New Credit Repair Division Is INDEPENDENT CREDIT SOLUTIONS

And the department over there is now in full swing to start assisting customers nationwide as this press release credit repair swampstates. Sure, it’s all well and good, and we love a good credit score. Without a doubt, homeowners love those shining credit reports, too. But more importantly, the best part of Independent Credit Solutions is the fact that they’re focusing on the one element essential to the success of anyone prospecting for rent-to-own options. It’s all about credit repair.

You’ll need a 640 score, basically. No ifs, ands or buts. Anything lower, and you might be treading through mud during your trek across the swamp of the real estate market, and that’s no fun for those socks and boots you’re wearing. It’s a dangerous jungle out there; you’ll hear that from even your favorite rent-to-own consultant, but what can make it better for you is a pristine credit score brought about by one of the best credit repair service you could ever have recommended by the H.O.P.E. Program.

Take Advantage of It Right Now. Immediately. Your Credit Score Demands It.

We can’t legitimately review such a site as this, though, as this has literally nothing to do with rent-to-own. But what we can do is discuss it. Right here. Right now. Credit repair’s important. You can have all the services in the world, but if you don’t take that first step and follow through with repairing your credit right now by enrolling here, you might be up a creek and lost in the wilderness.

And that’s no place to be right now in today’s real estate industry.

The Current State of the RTO Home Industry: a Continuing Trend

Read about any of the reviews regarding the Ultimate Rent-to-Own Home Program, this list of rent-to-own homes, and an aggregate system for RTO properties, and you’ll know right away: the RTO home industry is still as popular as ever….

The News in Today’s RTO Home Industry Might Surprise You, Though: Wall Street’s Getting in on the Action

You heard correctly: even high-profile firms are seeing the value in the RTO home industry. Rent-to-own makes more than the mark. It’s seeking to revolutionize the housing market regarding credit repair thanks to recent developments on one of the most prolific rent-to-own companies — aside from the prestigious organization the H.O.P.E. Program — a “little” corporation known as the Home Partners of America (HPA).

But before we get to the goods on what’s going on in this RTO home industry with respect to the HPA, let’s understand exactly what rent-to-own is all about:rto home industry-1

What Is Rent-to-Own? And Why Would You Want This Option?

Forget the negativity of an option that is rent-to-own and realize that there’s a direct benefit not just for the homeowner, but the home buyer here. All sorts of rent-to-own programs existed through small operators became the rage back in the ’90s as a way to provide an alternative to consumers who may not have a whole lot of cash saved up for a sizable down payment on a mortgage. Understandable. However, almost as quickly as the RTO home industry started seeing some gains, the trend declined due to easy lending choices with no money down — which, as you know, most definitely contributed to the unfortunate housing crash in 2008!

Essentially, the RTO home industry was all about negotiating a deal between the homeowner and the potential home buyer to rent the home for a specific length of time with an option to buy later down the road as credit improves and the home renter saves up enough money for a possible down payment. Sounds good, obviously, but there were cons to the RTO home industry, such as a higher rent and purchase price the longer they rent vs. the fact that those potential home buyers get to lock in that home at a price (which could be a negative, too) and try out the home and neighborhood to see if it’s a great fit for the individual or family. In a sense, the RTO home industry provided something rarely seen in the housing market: flexibility.

rto home industry-2Enter: the Home Partners of America

Given the fact that lenders nowadays are setting the bar so high, what with credit scores being the make-or-break deal in securing that mortgage loan, it’s now a sure thing: the RTO home industry’s rising again, and for good reason. The HPA sought to target this market that hadn’t seen any development for years since the crash, and it looks as if they’ve nailed a chance to stimulate the industry and get people into homes without issues of foreclosure or decline.

This is how the HPA operates — you’ve got a consumer looking for a home (obviously, a rent-to-own home) and collaborates with a real estate agent. Of course, the HPA has literally an empire of approved communities in suburban locations with solid school systems for families; additionally, prrices range from $100K to $725K, so you’re looking at an RTO home industry that blankets the entire range of possibilities for home buying.

What happens, of course, is the HPA then actually purchases the home from the seller, leasing that home to the prospective consumer. The deal is the consumer becomes a home renter with the actual right to purchase the home after a set period of time. There is an expectation that the home renter has to work on repairing credit for approval of a home loan as well as saving for that down payment, but here’s the catch: the longer that home renter is renting on the property, the more they may have to pay just to buy the house. Interesting trade-off. But with the right rent-to-own resources, and education on the RTO home industry, while it may benefit the homeowner, you’re looking at a great option for the home buyer!

Are There Any Examples We Can See on the RTO Home Industry Right Now?

If you were to go on the HPA website, you might see a home shown at a listing price of $449,975 in Chula Vista, CA, with the option for a potential home buyer to purchase at a price of $472,035 just after one year. Now after five years of renting, the home buyer would be looking at a $573,762 purchase price — a 28% markup from the original listing.

Sounds bad, yes — but when you’re informed of the stipulations beforehand and you know what to expect, without rto home industry-3even worrying about whether or not a bank will approve a home loan for you — for many families out there, that’s a great deal! Security. Insurance. Assurance. Those are now the main assets in this housing market, thanks to the RTO home industry.

How Does That Compare to Home Renting and Mortgage Payment Averages, Though?

Given the rising prices in our market at the moment, it’s not far off the apple tree — but make no mistake as those potential home buyers will be paying a premium due to a rent-to-own. Your typical 30-year conventional mortgage for the exact same listing in the example would go for just $1.8K. Now with an average single-family rental payment of $2.270K/month in San Diego, this is what the prospective homeowner’s paying extra for — the lock-in for buying that home without any chance of it falling through. Something many people see in the real estate market, for good reason (we, after all, don’t want to see another housing crash, right?).

A sparkling credit score, and a good down payment: that’s typically what we end up seeing in a traditional mortgage, something that doesn’t always work out for the average consumer. So, naturally, a chance to repair credit while living in the home, plus potentially getting the loan at the lease option to buy with zero down, just might be worth the extra price in rent, don’t you think? And here’s an even better benefit for that home renter: the tenant isn’t required to buy!

Interest in the RTO Home Industry Is Still Steadily Growing….

The HPA isn’t the only organization seeing a profit in the RTO home industry. Home LPC in NYC and Premium Point Investments have also thrown their financial hats in to see if there’s a profit to make in buying these properties and renting them out with a lease option to buy. More and more homes are being bought out for the purpose of rent-to-own; and due to the flexibility not only for the seller/company as well as the renter/buyer, it’s quite hard to see any disadvantage.

You just have to remember one important point when it comes to the RTO home industry — you need to know where to look, what to do, how to do it, and someone to help you do it all the way through. Something that may actually come a little easier for a prospective homeowner than saving a ton of money for a down payment and getting that mortgage approval….

The ONLY Way to Qualify for a Home Mortgage With Bad Credit

Contrary to what many may think, it just so happens that there are some home mortgage programs out there that’ll except a bad credit stain or two. If you haven’t signed up with Independent Credit Solutions or Lexington Law, you might still have a chance in getting a home loan approval provided you know what your […]

3 Things About the Fed Interest Rate Hike You Need to Know

First off, it’s quite astonishing on this news alert that we should be aware of, given the fact that the Federal Reserve hasn’t upped the interest rate in nine straight years…. Until now. And to make it even more interesting, the Federal Reserve plans on increasing that rate four more times in the future. What does […]

Finally, a Review on the HOPE Program: Long Time to Wait

The irony here at the Complete Real Estate Site is that we here haven’t even given the goods on this well-known organization known as HOPE Program, and in all honesty, that is a travesty. This is largely due to the case that the H.O.P.E. Program can largely be considered the man behind the curtain, the Wizard of Oz, if you will, of real estate assistance. So you don’t really get to hear much about what H.O.P.E. to Own does. Until now.

Why the HOPE Program Has Earned That Star-Studded “A” Rating From the BBBHOPE Program Wizard of Oz

Let’s just start with that for a moment, shall we? This is a program earning such a prestigious rating from the Better Business Bureau. Right about here, we can actually stop the writing and you can stop the reading from here and out, because that alone should be reason enough that the HOPE Program knows what they’re doing.

But you’ve got to know, wholeheartedly, this important fact: you need to know what they do as well. As usual, we’re all about knowledge here, and with an acronym like H.O.P.E. (Home Ownership is Possible with Education), the HOPE Program certainly feels the same way, as they should. Knowledge is power. And in the real estate industry, power is absolute.

The Verticals of the HOPE Program

Assistance, affiliations, referrals, and partnerships: that’s what the HOPE Program focuses on. They steer clients in the right direction, ensuring the ultimate goal — home ownership. It doesn’t matter if you’re seeking a bookkeeper or a tax preparer, or maybe you want some help with credit repair. Perhaps you’re considering something along the lines of identity theft protection, or you’re hoping to find a consultant for a rent-to-own home. The ultimate endgame is simple — home ownership.

  • Credit Repair
  • Identity Theft Protection
  • Consultancy
  • Finances
  • Home Renting Resources
  • Real Estate
  • College Education

Yes, you can even get assistance toward advancing your career through job portals like National Jobs Online, or grants and scholarships for going back to school. It’s obvious: the HOPE Program doesn’t play around. They’re in it for success for all who end up on their books, and their goal is successful home ownership for anyone interested in that very concept of success.

So Better Late Than Never, Right?

Like we said, though…. Aside from that “A” rating, the people at the HOPE Program really only care about one thing — you. And as far as we’re concerned, that’s more than just an “A” rating in our books, whether you’re a home seller, home renter, or prospective homeowner. Needless to say, when we’re done going through the steps of the HOPE Program, we’d all be chanting in unison the words “there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.” Guess what, folks: you’re home. With HOPE.

Why Credit Repair Is Crucial in Real Estate

We’re sure you guys have heard about the BBB A-rated H.O.P.E. Program, right? Right. You’d have to be living on that second Earth planet NASA recently discovered in another galaxy (who knows: maybe H.O.P.E. can find rent-to-own homes there as well!) if you don’t know what H.O.P.E. to Own is. But here’s the deal: if you know H.O.P.E. to Own, you know they know they can lead you to the best credit repair services out there. That’s the major first task for a specialist there dedicated to maximizing the chances for a prospective homeowner in landing that mortgage: it’s all about the credit repair.

Well, Guess What: HOPE Now Has Its Own Credit Repair Division — credit repair galaxyIndependent Credit Solutions

Now we’re in a completely different galaxy. But that’s a good thing. No supernovas here. The fact is this: H.O.P.E. to Own’s been working with credit repair for years. 640 or bust. If that credit score isn’t where it should be, your toast. Even as a home renter, you need to take advantage of those rent payments making a dent on your credit report, so you’re prepared to approach the prospect of a home mortgage for your time to buy, because — yes, it’s true — you’ll still need to get that approval for a home loan. Even with a rent-to-own, you still need to watch your credit! Those popular rent-to-own consultants even do a service in credit enhancement and monitoring to ensure you’re all set for the time when you’re ready to exercise your lease option to buy.

So it makes sense that the HOPE Program saw the likes of Independent Credit Solutions! HOPE, itself, wrote about it with pride, too. Not that Lexington Law wasn’t ever doing their job (they’re the cream of the crop, really). But in this case, it’s all about the H.O.P.E. specialists offering up a wealth of options for their customers. Plain and simple.

That’s Honestly Why the HOPE Program Gets Their “A” Rating

Credit repair’s looking good knowing that Lexington Law and Independent Credit Solutions are now helming that factor for homeowners all on their own. We approve, and so does this site with their review of the new credit repair service. We suggest you get in on the action right now, in fact. Because you never know what the universe will reveal to you. Perhaps your dream home in another galaxy!

AssistingRenters.com: Benefiting the Home Renter in Every Way

Crap. Just got a flat tire, and we have only a few flares to work with. I suppose we could march ourselves to the nearest garage with the tire in the hopes that a greaser’s going to get his hands dirty, fix the darn thing, and then drive us back to the vehicle, so we can get on our way! Sure thing. It’ll only take a few hours, and we just missed our sister’s wedding…. Dagnabit.

What If the Garage Was But a Click Away, and Even Better…. It Was Free to Get Service?

Are you serious? Yes. I am indeed.assistingrenters-flat tire

Sure, this is just a metaphor for something bigger, and it’s not necessarily about roadside assistance (although it could be, and I’ll explain that later!). Rather, the idea of getting that flat tire and then having it fixed immediately can’t be better explained than visiting a site like AssistingRenters.com. A site dedicated to, well, assisting renters. With everything!

Everything from home improvement assistance and ideas to even identity theft. Or maybe you’re looking at legal guidance when dealing with landlords, contracts, and other issues? Yep, AssistingRenters.com even provides some resources for that, plus continually updated blog content for your perusal to clue you in on industry trends, like a watchdog making sure you’re in the know about what to expect in the market.

Why Does All This Matter to the Home Renter, Though? Is AssistingRenters.com That Essential?

When you think about it, you couldn’t ask for anything better. Credit repair directly affects the prospect of leasing a rent-to-own home, for instance. With credit improvement comes the issue of identity theft. And, for sure, you want information about home improvement measures as well as guidance about what you can and can’t do regarding your landlord. Disputes, contracts, issues, problems with the law: home renters face these factors on a daily basis sometimes!

So what’s the confusion? It’s pretty obvious….

It’s Free. It’s Easy. It’s Possible.

It’s possible that you can be a home renter without the hassle thanks to this little site. Like the mom-and-pop garage fixing your car every day. Thanks for the hand, pops!

And then maybe one day you could opt for a rent-to-own…. But that’s a completely different story for another day out on the road (Yes, AssistingRenters.com even provides resources for roadside assistance!).

Check them out at RTO Reviews for more info about what they can do for you right now.
